Okay, here’s your assignment: depict the entire 1000+ year history of Poland. You have to do this in film format and you have only eight minutes to tell the story. It’s for the World Expo so millions will be watching…no pressure. Tough? Not if you’re Tomek Bagiński and a member of the Platige Image team.
A former Academy Award nominee for his short animated film The Cathedral (Katedra), Tomek is one of the best digital animators and filmmakers around. Rumours suggest that he has been offered numerous gigs by Hollywood studios but declined them all to continue his work at Warsaw based post-production house Platige Image . He is currently working hard on a groundbreaking animated film about the Warsaw uprising.
Some time ago, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development commissioned him to create a short film depicting the history of Poland which is to be showcased at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.
